3 year olds

As three-year-olds, the children are beginning to seek more interactions with peers and are learning how to be a member of a group.  We emphasize cooperative play and working together.  We provide indoor activities that allow the children to explore and play individually, in small groups, and in large groups. The activities are designed to involve the children in the learning process. The schedule reflects planning for active as well as quiet time for the children.  During indoor activity time, children choose from a variety of activities, which include art, blocks, dramatic play, manipulatives, language, number and counting games, books, and sensory experiences.  Circle time is together time!  Colors, numbers, letters, singing, story time, creative movement, Bible stories, prayer, flag salute, weather & calendar are all a part of this time together.  The schedule also includes boisterous outdoor activity time for gross motor development and play!

pre-k

The goal of our Pre-K programs is to foster independence which 4 & 5-year-old children want and need.  We help children to use their independence wisely.  Teacher-directed and self-directed activities are presented each day.  They are learning to play more cooperatively with each other and to problem solve.  At this age, play with a friend involves more planning and more compromise.  Children are directed or explore on their own a variety of activities which include art, blocks, dramatic play, manipulatives, language development, math concepts, writing station and science fun.  Circle time with the calendar & weather, Show & Share, job duties, Bible stories, prayer, songs, and creative movement are all a part of our morning together.  The schedule also includes outdoor activities for large muscle development.

kindergarten

Our Kindergarten at Shining Star will provide your child with both an academic experience as well as a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Our program is aligned to California's Content Standards for both Language Arts and Math.  We offer a smaller class size, which allows us the opportunity for additional guidance with our children. Our credentialed teacher is committed to providing an excellent experience in a loving environment where Jesus is seen each day. Our Kindergarten program runs 8:30 - 1:30 daily, with before and after care available. 

extended day - stay & play

Stay and Play is a popular extended day program we offer from 12:30-5:30.  This additional enrichment program is a less structured environment. Children enjoy art, music, stories, cooking, games, snack, and more outside play in a context of fun! Children can be picked up any time during the afternoon.
